Hello everyone, I hope you are all safe and private. Today I’m going to talk about SurfShark VPN. With the dramatic rise in the need for privacy, VPN’s offer the best line of defense. However, not all of them are legit, on one hand, some are good, on the other, well, some are very bad.
Today I’m going to review, what is, in my opinion, one of the best VPN clients out there. Without further delay, let’s get to it!
Surfshark VPN Main Features
I’d like to point out a summarized list of features it offers:
- CleanWeb – a unique feature of SurfShark
- No logs policy
- Private DNS and leak protection
- Camouflage mode- defend yourself against your ISP
- Multi-Hop Features
- Secure protocols
- Hide Your IP
- No Borders Mode – Access all restricted content to you.
As we dive in, i will explain key features. Lets begin with Logging In.
After I’ve input my details ill get to the Dashboard. Be advised you can filter servers by a role if you click on the “HAMBURGER ICON” on the right side of the connect blue row. For instance: like the following image:
In addition to these features, SurfShark lets you decide if you want it to choose for you depending on the best-calculated settings, or you manually chose and specify your purpose of usage. The following tabs I will cover will shed some light on what I mean. Let’s move on to the LOCATION TAB.
It’s pretty straight-forward. On one hand, you can manually choose a physical server location. On the other hand, you can let SurfShark choose for you with the “Fastest Server” in addition to the “Neighbor Country” filters. Or, you can use its counterpart feature of choosing manually from a huge country list.
Furthermore, as implied, the Fastest server connects you to the Fastest operating network at the moment of the request. However, the Neighbor Country connects you automatically to a geographically close country to you.
I’m going to break it down for you, simply put, virtual tab lets you select a server with the desired country IP, however, the server ISN’T physically located at that country.
We use this type of VPN when we engage in P2P Sharing, Downloading, Uploading, etc. These servers are best optimized for such actions and performance. Finally, let’s move on to our final Surfshark server type: Multi-Hop.
When you are an extremist and would like the MAXIMUM PROTECTION LEVEL ONLINE. In simple terms, these features activate a 2 country routing. Your VPN connection isn’t routed throughout a single country. Instead, it takes multi hopes on the span of a few countries. Thus, making you harder to detect and follow.
The next thing i want to talk about is SurfShark’s unique feature called “Clean Web”.
I want to point out that I pretty much like this feature. I didn’t see it affecting my speed in any way, so there’s no harm, only benefit from turning this on. In doing so you will filter ads and malicious websites.
Finally, the last thing I will talk about in this section before we move on to LIVE TESTING is SurfShark’s White Lister. The mentioned feature lets you white list apps you don’t want to make use and connect via the VPN. Moreover, you can even exclude website URL’s while your VPN is active. This is a great feature, the Only downside I see is that they should have added its counterpart, a KILL SWITCH for apps(Much like the one that NordVPN has).
SurfShark VPN LIVE TESTING
As I mentioned at the beginning of my article, I performed some key tests in order to evaluate this VPN’s quality and way of work. I ran the tests with a connection to the US. However, you should know I’m physically far from the US. In addition, the connection at my home is only 100Mb right now, and I’m connected via WIFI.
Right now, I’m connected via SurfShark, The location is Buffalo, USA. This is in theory. Let’s test it out and take a look at the results:
Awesome, so it works, i’m moving on to speed tests.
Speed Test Results While Using SurfShark
First of all, i would like to say the results were very very nice. I expected far less.so you can imagine my surprise level.
I don’t know what about you, I like these numbers from where I’m physically at. They’re simply amazing. So far, we did an IP test and a speed test. Finally, the end test would be trying to stream Netflix. Let’s get to it.
Surfshark Netflix Bypass
At the time of writing this article, the Surfshark Netflix bypass works! i successfully accessed the US Netflix from outside the USA.
My Personal Experience While Using SurfShark VPN
Truth be told, I really enjoyed my time with SurfShark. Moreover, I’m definitely going to keep using it as one of my top VPN clients in my arsenal of privacy and security. In addition to it being light-weight, fast, and CPU friendly. I also like the fact that its price tag is not steep at all. Thus, making it an affordable VPN client for everyone. Finally, I would like to say that in addition to these tests, I conducted P2P testing as well.
For legal reasons I cannot post the findings, however, I do strongly recommend that you would check out SurfShark’s P2P severs with torrenting.
To sum up
I hope you find the information here useful. I did my best to bring you the most updated review. However, if there’s anything wrong or you think I missed something, feel free to post a comment below.
